Driving Tour!
Pack the picnic basket, your cameras, and lots of film! Then head west on Highway 64 towards Taos for the 80 mile drive around the Enchanted Circle:
After you pass through beautiful Taos Canyon, stop by Taos Pueblo. (Save Taos for a day trip all its own!)
Take a side trip seven miles east on 64 to look down into the magnificent Rio Grande Gorge from a bridge right over the top!
Head north from Taos on Highway 522 to the little town of Questa. From there, a short side trip (eight miles) takes you on Highway 378 to the village of Cerro and to the Rio Grande Wild River Recreation Area, including the Rio Grande Gorge, striking geological features, and Indian rock pictographs. Have lunch in one of the picnic areas!
From Questa, take Highway 38 on to Red River, our sister ski and resort town. Do some window shopping! It's all very accessible!
From Red River, head over the pass to Eagle Nest. A nice side-trip takes you east into the top of the Cimarron Canyon to see the beaver ponds along the headwaters of the Cimarron River.
From Eagle Nest, you're almost back home: Head south on Highway 64, passing through the Moreno Valley back to Angel Fire and the park!
